Just call me "Mother of the Year."
NOT!!!
I am horrified and embarrassed about an incident that happened last Friday.
Here's the story.
My oldest son (8) and daughter (6) were taking part in a lip-synch performance at school on Friday and I promised to be there. The problem was that it started at 1:00 pm and I couldn't be there right when it began. I teach a BodyPump fitness class from noon to 1:00 on Fridays. My daughter was very upset at this news because her class was performing first. I promised her that I would rush right over after class and, hopefully, I would get there in time. So class finishes up and I literally run from the fitness room to the car. I book over to the school and run from the parking lot into the gym. I see my husband and a friend and take a seat next to them on the bleachers. After about 10 minutes, something doesn't feel right and all of a sudden it dawns on me that my youngest son, Logan (4) is not there. I blurt out to my husband, "Where's Logan?"
OH MY GOD! I left Logan at the health club. Now, mind you, he was in the nursery so he was in the care of professionals. But still. I LEFT MY 4-YEAR OLD SON!!
I booked it out of the school gym and headed to the health club. Five minutes later, I gave Logan a big hug. He didn't even know that I had left the building but I felt so guilty.
To make matters worse, I missed my daughter's performance because I was too late and then I missed my oldest son's performance because I had to go back to the health club. Like I said, just call me "Mother of the Year." :)
